Raina began her explanation. "The burning aura is actually a layer of ki that takes the energy from an attack, and reverses it back to the owner. Think of it as a pipe. The pipe splits in two at one point, but one valve is closed. You open te valve nd the water splits. Part f it goes one way, and the other half goes the newly opened path."

Sarah nodded, absorbing the information. "Interesting!"

Raina got ready. "First off. Using what you have seen, try to make the burning aura."

Emily concentrated and formed a layer of ki above her skin. Then two large pipes poked out of her shield of ki.

Raina tested out the shield. She punched Emily. The shield didn't do anything except break. "That was really literal."

Sarah formed her own shield. She was very accomplished with ki so she believes she could do it.

Raina tested Sarah's shield. The shield did reflect a little but if the punch, but most of it went right through.

Emily shrugged, she had figured that wouldn't work but she wasn't quite sure how to go about it. She tried again. This time, she added a second layer to the first layer of ki. She made the outer one permeable (or, tried to) and the inner one... not... permeable. There, maybe that would work.

Sarah walked over. "That won't work. It's not a shield. It more like a cloak. Just imagine anything coming toward you, and make it go te other way. The ki will make it happen."
