The Mostly Quiet Dead

"Went stark ravin' and kidnapped us!"

Cyril Prime suddenly turned feral in appearance. His aura flared around him and it was green. Cyril Prime grew claws and fangs. "Plot twist!" Cup Mark II cackled.

Auron piped up, "Everyone who didn't see that coming, raise your hands." He blinked, "No one? Riiight."

"Where's the real fake Cyril," Rick demanded.

Cyril let the illusion fall and Cyril Prime tackled Cup Mark II to the ground and tied him up. "Plot twist!" Cyril Prime grinned wildly.

Emily looked bewildered. She patted herself down to make sure she was still herself.

Ryuzaki coughed.

Auron turned into a goldfish, "Plottwist!"" He blinked, "Wait, no... I could always shapeshift..."

Emily looked confused, "Okay, so, wait. Where's our Cyril?"

Cyril Prime shrugged. "He disguised me as himself and ran to hide something or something."

Cyril walked back from deep in the library. He cleared his throat, "Everything going alright?"

"Too late," Ryuzaki said flatly. The fake Rick dissolved into shadows. Real Rick stepped out of them, holding a book. "Plot twist." He sighed deeply, "How could I help myself? Such a provocative title. Revelations of a Lord . Compelling read, this." He thumped the spine.

Cyril's blood ran cold. "Oh really? Er, find anything interesting?"

Emily looked pretty confused, like always. "What's that?

Ryuzaki wagged a finger at Cyril, "Tell them. You tell them."

"It's nothing important." Cyril insisted. "Nothing you need to know!"

Emily brushed her hair back, "Cyril... what is it?"

Ryuzaki gave a shallow, hissing laugh, "Oh, so the death and suffering of your people was NOTHING!"

Cyril balled his hands into fists, "Everyone knows we suffered! Does a simple timeline matter?" Cyril was almost pleading now.

"Cyril, what have you done?" Emily took a step back.

" Lord Protector Cyril ," Ryuzaki snorted

"Fine!" Cyril seethed, "I lied! The War of the Fallen was not so recent! It happened over one hundred years ago, and lasted a year not a day!"

Emily was confused, "Why would you lie about that?"

Ryuzaki went silent.

"There are simply things that don't need to be known." Cyril said stiffly.

Ryuzaki handed the book to Emily.

Emily took the book. She looked at it and back at Cyril.

"It's not finished yet." Cyril said quietly.

Rick sighed and turned to Prime, "Had you done the same?"

"What?" Cyril Prime looked clueless, "Look, I've never been in any war...."

Ryuzaki doubted this.

"I haven't!" Cyril Prime protested, "Wait, why would I have even done something like this? Who do you think I am?"

"Cyril," Ryuzaki admitted.

Emily handed the book back to Cyril slowly, "I'll want to see the finished product."

"You will. Everyone will."

"Wh- I AM Cyril though!" Cyril Prime protested, "Or do you mean you think I'm him?" Cyril Prime jerked his thumb at Cyril.

Rick glared at Prime.
