Cyril was dying. Not really but that grabbed your attention and that’s good. You’ll need to pay attention for this one because it’s going to go *puts on sunglasses* fast. AAAWWWWWWWWWWWW YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAH

Cyril was making good progress with regaining his original power level. He was still a very far cry away from it but he was working faster than expected. Unfortunately, Earth was not giving him much of a challenge. He had become undisciplined because no one was giving him a challenge and now people who were weaker than him were defeating him because they were more disciplined and controlled. Cyril knew he had to get a grip on himself because even with all the power in the world it would be useless without skill and discipline. Cyril also knew it would be awhile before he retrained himself in that respect so he decided to give himself an edge in battle first, so he would learn another technique. The technique was called After Image. Cyril used to use this technique very often and was confident the training process would be very fast. No pun intended. But first he was going to get some lunch. Cyril strolled to the diner down the street and grabbed himself a sandwich. Okay now it was time to get down to business.
Cyril moaned inwardly. He didn’t want to do anything today, but he knew he had to do things and stuff. Cyril sighed and walked along the sidewalk until it took him to the edge of the city. He continued to walk along the highway until he reached about a mile from the city limits. When he did he spun around on his heels and dug a small line beside the road, this would be the one mile mark. He turned and faced the city. Cyril took off at a fast pace and as he went on he got faster and faster. At first a jog then a mild run and then a full on sprint. Before Cyril was at his fastest he reached the city limits and was going too fast to stop.
“Damn. I Overshot it.” Cyril muttered. He had to take control of his speed and his ability to stop and start before he could master this technique. He might accidently overshoot and end up on the wrong side of the continent. He turned around and walked back to the city limits. He took a deep breath and eyeballed the distance between him and the mile mark. “Alright I can do this.” He took off as fast as he could and quickly escalated to his top speed and tried to stop as close to the mile mark as he could. Cyril skidded to a stop and waved his arms wildly as he stumbled a few yards. He regained his balance and examined where he was. Cyril was almost a mile from the target. Damn it. He decided to change his tactics; maybe he should just work on getting as fast as he could as soon as he could.
Cyril took off as fast as he could and immediately stopped and shook his head. Nope, not fast enough. He spun around and ran as fast as he could again. Nope, still not starting fast enough!
Cyril trained like this for an hour, running back and forth trying to get the fastest starting speed he could. He was still not where he wanted to be. Cyril went on for another five hours trying out multiple training techniques and variations of those techniques, but no progress was being made. He stopped and was panting heavily. He was tired and frustrated; why wasn’t he making any progress? Cyril had been performing this move successfully before any human on this earth had even been conceived! He made his way back to the city while he thought of why he hadn’t mastered this move yet. There was something off but he just couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Cyril was almost positive it was something blatantly obvious and really stupid. It was almost always something blatantly obvious and ridiculously stupid. Cyril sighed as he entered the city limits. He refused to go home until he mastered After Image, so he walked to the diner he had eaten lunch at to grab dinner. The guy behind the counter greeted him
“Learn that technique yet Cyril?” Cyril had told him of his goal earlier that day in passing.
“No I haven’t actually. I expected it to go pretty fast but I don’t know. Something’s holding me back and I can’t quite figure out what it is.”
“Could it be because you’re not wearing shoes?”
“What?”
“You’re not wearing shoes.”
“Oh.” Cyril walked right back out and began running to his house. He flung open the door and put on shoes. He then ran out the door hit full speed in less than a second and stopped right on the city limit. Cyril punched the air excitedly. “Finally!”
