Cyril leaned back in his chair. Night was falling and he successfully learned telekinesis on time. Cyril should’ve been happy but instead he couldn’t help feeling a bit worried. He was supposed to have done it by now. He was supposed to have saved them! Cyril was on his way to regaining his strength again, but he feared he would not be on time. There was so much to be done and he couldn’t even begin to start to do any of it because he was too weak. Cyril was running out of time, the Ix could find this universe at any moment. They could stumble upon him and then they would know. They would know they hadn’t won, that they had not quite finished the job. They would know that the Seraphs still lived. Cyril gripped the arms of the chair tightly. That was something they could not learn. He did not sleep well that night.
Cyril woke to a large crowd gathering around outside the building across the street. “Hey! No pushing, calm down, calm down!” Someone shouted. Cyril rubbed the sleep from his eyes and got up. He stretched for a few seconds and let out a long yawn. Cyril stumbled over to the window and fell to the floor. He had slept on his legs and they were still asleep. Cyril was very tempted to just go back to sleep there on the floor but the shouting persisted. He rubbed his legs in an attempt to get the blood circulating again. Cyril pushed himself up and went to the window, without falling this time. Across the street the crowd still milled about the building. Cyril looked at the large neon sign above the door. “Capsule Corps: New Item!” Cyril didn’t think much about it and went into the kitchen.
Because he had been spending so much time here Cyril had restocked the kitchen with basic supplies. Cyril put the tea on and went about making his breakfast which consisted of several pieces of toast.
“That’s outrageous!” Someone yelled from outside. This outburst was followed by a general agreement of the crowd and several more echoing the sentiment. Cyril poured himself a cup of tea and took a sip as he walked back to the window to observe the crowd. He yawned again as he was having trouble waking up all the way and pulled the curtain back a little, just enough so that he could see them clearly but not enough that they would notice. As it turned out the crowd had now left and there was just two loons yelling at each other. “Aaaaalright then.” Cyril went back to his breakfast and finished it. When he finished Cyril walked outside and blinked in the sun. He walked across the street to Capsule Corps to see what all the fuss had been about. Cyril opened the door and a bell rung.
“Hello! Here to see the new inventory.” The clerk smiled and waved him in.
“I sure am,” Cyril said walking all the way in and approaching the counter. “What’s new?”
“Brand new shipment of dragon radars,” the clerk said.
“To find dragons?”
“What do you mean to find dragons?” the clerk laughed, “It’s to find dragon balls!”
“Excuse me?” Cyril said incredulously
“Y’know the mystical balls that summon the great Shenron?”
“Who?”
“Boy you’re daft” the clerk gave him a strange look, “You know the dragon that grants wishes if you gather them all up?” Cyril gave him a blank look but then laughed
“Oh yes of course THOSE dragon balls right.” He had no idea what he was talking about but these dragon balls would be incredibly useful if he wanted to regain his power quickly. “So, how much is the radar?”
“10,000 Zenni” The clerk said. Cyril walked right back out.
“I don’t have that kind of money!” But Cyril sorely needed that radar. He had best get to earning zenni and training just in case he couldn’t find the balls. Cyril rose into the air and flew to the east in search of a nice place to train. Very soon Cyril came upon mountainous terrain that was perfect for training. He landed gently and took a deep breath. He stretched out his arm palm upward and a ball of white ki shimmered into existence. He began condensing the ki, adding more energy to it and making it smaller. Cyril continued to do this until his concentration was strained and he could hardly hold it together anymore. Cyril frowned deeply; the ball was bigger only half the size of his hand and was barely enough to destroy metal alloys. He used to be able to do this until it threatened to break this universe’s laws of physics. He used to be able to pour enough ki to blow apart a class D planet into a ball that was smaller than a pinprick. Cyril had a lot of work to do. He released the ki in controlled streams that blew a deep crater in front of him. Cyril stepped into the crater and fell down t the bottom. He sank into a cross legged position and began to meditate. He breathed in and an aura of ki blossomed around him. Cyril let it spread out as far as it could and it only went about a foot away from his body. He breathed out and it shrank and pushed towards his body. Cyril repeated the process until he felt that he had a greater control over his ki. Cyril opened his eyes and floated out of the crater. His eyes shifted to the scattered boulders around and made a face. Training strength and stamina was his least favorite thing. He started with the smaller rocks and began lifting them above his head and moving around with them. Eventually he started running with them and moved onto larger boulders. Cyril did this until nightfall and then he flew slowly back to the safe house. He was exhausted and dreaded the morning because he knew he would be ridiculously sore.
