The appendages returned because Akira has magnetism.

What? Cyril sent them back and materialized thick, wooden boxes around them to maybe dampen the magnetism? Cyril didn't know.

The boxes were shattered by Amaterasu throwing rocks.

Cyril's heart was shattered too, by metaphorical rocks thrown by everyone. The arms were too far away by now to be effected by magnetism.
