Sympathy For the Devil

Stan, who had secretly been living in the TARDIS, jumped out on Heaven's moon. He rang the doorbell.

Cyril tore open the doors. "HOW DI- ...Stanial? What do you want?"

Stan sighed, "There's a level of power that requires a certain state of mind that I want. Usually that involves a memory sequnce, mediatation, or a crackpot adventure. Help?"

"Oh, I feel your pain. Hate those frickin' things." Cyril mumbled. "Er... come right in." Cyril opened the doors fully and let Stan in.

Stan followed, "How've you been?"

"Oh well. Um." Cyril wasn't used to that question. "Good I suppose. I've been teaching Emily and Rick. Also there's that whole 'Emperor' fellow who is threatening the safety of everything I hold dear."

Stan nodded, "Yeah, well. S'how it goes, isn't it?"

"Yeah, guess so. I suppose I brought it onto myself by being so powerful or something." Cyril muttered this next part under his breath, "Gotta change that soon."

Stan blinked, not catching that last bit, "So, will you help me?"

Cyril scratched his neck uncertainly, "What's your alignment again?"

Stan shrugged, "I stoppee killing children and blaming it on innocent Satanists.

Cyril stared at him and drummed his fingers on the long table. "Eeeeeh.... Alright, but you have to sign a contract."

Stan was no fool, "Let me read it."

Cyril removed a contract from his robes with a flourish, "My basic training contract. States that your allegiance lies with me, etc."

Stan sighed, "Don't Zayn me, bro."

"I wont rip your arms off if that's what you- Oh!" Cyril began laughing, "Oh you mean that contract he signed with the Entertainer! Nah, this is just to make sure you don't immediately go use the training I gave you to conspire against me. It happens pretty often, or so I'm told."

Stan nodded and signed the damn thing.

"Excellent." Cyril rolled up the contract and stashed it away. "Power up and show me what I'm working with." (What are Stan's stats anyway?)

Stan powered up. "See?" He pointed to the left for some reason.

((those stats don't look quite right there.)) Cyril looked to the left. "Hmm. I can work with that." Cyril stood abruptly, "Now, what kind of training would you like, sensible or trippy?"

Stan blinked, "I have a choice?" That was new.

"Yeah, sure. I never got a choice." Cyril trailed off.

Stan shrugged, "Well. Sensible."

"So you're aiming to be a warrior then?" Cyril queried. Trippy training sessions were better for mages, sensible for warriors. That's simply the way it was.

Stan shook his head, ""No. Alright. Trippy. Damn." Stan had a feeling that if he wanted to be a warrior, the mages woulda been the sensible ones.
